Groups and Activities, Boards, Committees , Groups that Meet at the Church
Groups and Activities
Sunday Night GIFT Group - They meet once a month on the third Sunday at 7:00 p.m. They take turns meeting at each member’s home for coffee/tea and dessert. The host chooses the topic for discussion, such as, a favorite Bible verse or current event.
Friday Night GIFT Group - They meet the third Friday of each month at 6:00 p.m. for dinner and fellowship at a member’s home.
Plymouth Village GIFT Group - They meet at 3:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Plymouth Village. Dr. Linden is the speaker.
Young Families Group (aka: The Congregants) - This is a new group which is just getting started. They meet on the last Sunday evening of the month at 6:00 p.m. for dessert and coffee/tea, fun and fellowship.
Thursday Morning Bible Study – Bible study is held each Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the church lounge. All are welcome to come and fellowship.
Sunday Morning Bible Study – Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. in the church lounge. The study is led by Dr. Garry Roghair. They are currently studying the Harmonies.
Scrapbooking - They meet one Saturday a month from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Church Lounge. Everyone is welcome to come and learn more about scrapbooking and have loads of fun and fellowship.
Christian Roundtable – They meet on Wednesday of each week at 12:00 noon in the church lounge. They discuss topics of interest from a Christian understanding.
Kirk Nite – Each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m., dinner is served (prepared by Carole Ley), then at 7:00 p.m. Bible study/discussion, led by Dr. Linden.
Women’s Fellowship – All women of the First Congregational Church are embraced into the membership of Women's Fellowship. All women of the church and their friends are cordially invited to attend the luncheon programs that are held the second Wednesday of every other month at 11:30am. The Women’s Fellowship theme this year is “Blest Be The Tie that Binds.”

Groups that meet at the church as part of Christian Outreach
Compassionate Friends - Meet on the third Tuesday of each month. This is a support group for people who have lost a child.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Two AA groups meet in the Youth Room on Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. They are currently trying to set up a third night, possibly on Monday evening.
Emotions Anonymous - Meet each Wednesday at 12:00 noon. This group consist of approximately fifteen to twenty people who come together for emotional support in a time of need or crisis.
Boy Scout Troop 44 - They meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Room.
Boards
The Church Council – The Church Council meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The council is made up of the Senior Minister, Moderator, Vice-Moderator, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Clerk, Treasurer, and representatives of the various boards and committees of the church. The Church Council serves as the coordinating agent in the interests and activities of this church, reviewing regularly the activities of officers, boards, committees and organizations and projecting plans for the future. The Church Council serves as the business committee to initiate business at regular and special meetings of this church.
It consists of a Moderator, Assistant Moderator, Clerk, Treasurer, and the Senior Pastor, plus representatives from the boards of Deacons, Deaconesses, Christian Education and Directors, the Music, Christian Outreach, Memorial and Nominating committees, Women's Fellowship and Members at Large.

The Board of Directors – The Board of Directors meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Board of Directors is made up of nine members from this church elected at the annual meeting held in January. The Board members are the directors of the corporation known as the First Congregational Church of Redlands and have charge of all matters relating to the care and custody of Church property and finances except as otherwise provided in the Constitution. Annually, the Board of Directors prepares a proposed budget for the ensuing year which is reviewed by the Church Council and then placed before the members of the church at the annual church meeting for adoption.

Board of Deacons – The Board of Deacons meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Board of Deacons works with the Senior Minister in advancing the spiritual welfare of this Church, assisting in caring for people in special need of this church’s ministrations, making necessary provision for the sacraments and assisting in administering them, collecting a Deacon’s Fund making it possible to carry on their work. The Board is made up of twelve members of the church elected at the annual meeting in January of each year.

The Board of Deaconesses – The Board of Deaconesses meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Board of Deaconesses work with the Senior Minister and Deacons in advancing the spiritual welfare of this church, visit the sick and needy, call upon new members and introduce new families into the life of this church, make preparation for the Sacrament of Communion and provide greeters at all regular services and at such special services where they are desired. The board is made up of twelve Deaconesses elected at the annual meeting held in January each year.

The Board of Christian Education – The Board of Christian Education meets on the first Sunday of each month after the 10:00 a.m. worship service.
The Board of Christian Education plans and supervises a comprehensive program of Christian Education. They shall determine the policies, build the curricula, set the goals, supervise the instruction, recruit and appoint such personnel as necessary, provide training and supervision of instructors and leaders and generally fit this church to its educational function. The Board of Christian Education is made up of twelve members elected at the annual meeting held in January of each year.

Christian Outreach Committee – The Christian Outreach Committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The Christian Outreach Committee supervises the missionary plans and activities in all departments of this church and shall suggest special projects to be undertaken and familiarize itself with the work of this Church’s programs, local and worldwide, presenting the same to the membership of this church. The committee has nine members.

Music Committee – The Music Committee meets as needed and times are announced in the church newsletter, "The Tower Tidings."
The Music Committee shall plan and supervise an effective program of church music and have general supervision over the musical instruments of this church. The committee has eight members.

Memorial Committee – The Memorial Committee meets as needed and times are announced in the church newsletter, "The Tower Tidings."
The Memorial Committee shall supervise the use of memorial funds subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. The committee has nine members.

Nominating Committee – The Nominating Committee meets as needed and times are announced in the church newsletter, "The Tower Tidings."
The Nominating Committee shall nominate all Officers, Board and Permanent Committee members as provided in the church constitution, posting its nominations three Sundays prior to each Annual Meeting of this church. When vacancies occur during the year, the Nominating Committee shall submit nominations to the Church Council for acceptance. The committee has nine members.
