The Staff and Ministers of our church.

Dr. Lowell W. Linden, D.D., Ph.D., Senior Minister

Education: B.S. from the University of California at Los Angeles, M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, Ph.D. in Theology from the California Graduate School of Theology, and an honorary D.D. from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.

My favorite verse, or shall I say, one of my favorites, is Isaiah 40:31. “Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary.”

One of the wonderful things about ministry is being with people and sharing with them the good news of Christ Jesus.

Rev. Marchié Miyashiro-Sims, Adult Ministries

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Ancient Greek from the University of California, Los Angeles. Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, California.

Favorite Bible Verse, which I learned in the third grade: Psalm 100 – “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with thanksgiving. Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pastures. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. for the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”

Favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 15:13,15 – “A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken…. All the days of the afflicted are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.”

Kai Lyles, Youth Director

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Redlands, Redlands, California. Master of arts in Education: School counseling from University of Redland, Redlands, California.

Julie Michaels, Children's Choir Director

Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology from California Lutheran University; MBA from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California.

Favorite Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 14:4-7,13 – “Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Hillary Houston, Child Care

Education: Attending Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California, majoring in early childhood education.

Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 100:1 – "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." Proverbs 22:6 – "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." My family has been members of the church since 1972. I feel that I can give back some of what the church has given to me and help other children experience the same thing.

Lori Hovren, Superintendent of Sunday School Programs

Education: South Lake Tahoe Community College, Lake Tahoe

Favorite Bible verse: Matthew 11:28-30 - “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 23 – "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in gree pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
